Four days in Paris wasn’t nearly enough, but the good thing is, it’s only a flight away! Like many places, there is just too much to do, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to do it all. But, for now, here is what I did on this trip!
Fun fact: I had a Paris themed bedroom growing up. Complete with a two-foot Eiffel Tower, black and white prints, and a chandelier. So needless to say, this was my seven-year-old dream come true.
Day 1
We arrived via the Chunnel in the evening and headed straight to get something to eat, classic.
What did we get first? I thought you’d never ask. We got escargot. Snails. We got snails. When in Paris right?
I’m not going to lie to you, I liked it. I don’t think I’d eat a whole tray, but I was rather impressed with them. But I mean what really stole the show was my steak, I mean bon appetit.
By the time we finished our meal, it was about time to pass out! While we were there, the metro was closed due to protesting so we had a walk back to the hotel!
Day 2
Paris was really showing off with the sunrises every morning, just look at this!
It was quite a beautiful morning watching the sunrise at the Lourve. I don’t know if I’d say I love the hour walk there, but it was worth it in the long run!
We were incredibly lucky we were still able to get in that day! Many of the employees at the Louvre were protesting the pension rates, so it was unclear if it would even open that day.
Here is the thing about the Louvre, you just have to see it. Whether art makes your heartbeat or you could live your whole life without stepping foot in a museum, the Louve is a must-do.
The Louvre is the largest museum in the world and home to some incredible works of art and historical pieces, such as the Mona Lisa and Hammurabi’s Code. Before becoming a museum, it was actually a palace, that only amplifies the beauty of this place. The famous glass pyramid was only added recently and was actually pretty controversial.
I could have spent days in this museum, but several hours was all that I could manage this trip. Here are a few pictures from inside, but do yourself a favor and add it to your list!
After the Louvre, we found a cafe on our way to the Eiffel Tour for a late breakfast. The hardest part about Paris is choosing what cafe to stop at!
Eventually, we found ourselves at THE Eiffel Tower. Unfortunately for us, there was quite a bit of construction and maintenance, but it was still THE Eiffel Tower.
During the day, it’s incredible. But at night, that is when its the most beautiful!
Like any good person in Paris, we stopped for crepes for dinner. I’d show you a picture, but I ate it too quickly.
We realized, we walked 18.5 miles and over 40,000 this day because the metro was closed. THAT IS NUTS!
Day 3
Unfortunately for me, I ended up with full-body hives and had to spend the majority of the day in the hotel room our third day. At least I know I’ll be back, right?
Day 4
We woke up bright and early to walk an hour to go to Hillsong Paris church. The walk was brutal, but the views on the way there were amazing. Like I said, Paris just kept showing off!
How incredible is it to feel so at home, so far from home?
Our last full day was spent shopping! Most of the day we were on the Champs-Élysées which is the most beautiful avenue in the world and one of the best shopping streets too. Similarly, one of the most beautiful malls in the world, Les Galeries LaFayette.
I’m not one to shop a lot, even though this blog tends to show otherwise. I have grande plans for the next time I’m in Paris and shopping is not one of them! I would love to see Notre Dame once its repaired, the Royal Palace, and Versailles. But this time? This time was for shopping.
I have officially declared that Paris is my absolute favorite during the sunrise or sunset, especially along the Seine.
Although, a weasel got in a few of the shots.
Our final hours in Paris were spent under the heat lamps at an outdoor cafe, eating Carbonara and crepes.
I hope you enjoyed a little taste of Paris with me! More to come soon, I promise!
Until then,
Katelyn
