The second stop for our quick Colorado weekend was Breckenridge. IF ONLY we were there to ski! Guess that just means well just HAVE to go back when there’s snow…
After a long drive, the first thing we did when getting to Breck, was grab food. We ended up walking around trying to find something local. However, after the third try, we just ended up at Downstairs at Eric’s on Main St., the perfect light-hearted pizza and burger place.
We were all exhausted (and stuffed) so we headed back to the condo (which was across the street from Main St., score!). Apparently we weren’t too tired for a hot tub session, so we squeezed a soak in there first!
The next morning, we woke up with two intentions for the day: crepes and biking.
Let me tell ya, this crepe stand was recommended by just about every person we talked to. And let me tell ya something else, it was worth the hype.
We were told to get there early because the line is always around the block, but somehow we ended up with only one person ahead of us! This is absolutely a must-do.
We headed to the town next door, Frisco, to rent some mountain bikes for the day to bike Vail Pass (which is just a mountain pass in the Rocky Mountains).
We got fitted with these INCREDIBLY fashion-forward helmets and we were off!
Almost every turn someone requested we stop to take a picture or to admire the mountains… it’s just not something we get in Minneapolis…
I just really love this place.
You can just leave us here, we’ll have a great time on our own.
Several hours later, we finished our bike ride and headed back to the condo. Thankfully, we thought ahead and ordered pizza to return to!
This is how you know we were tired.
Erika and I ended up shopping for an hour or two on Main St. before heading back for that pizza. Seriously, best idea ever.
Post-pizza, we headed to a haunted-mine tour. And to be completely honest, it was a pain in the butt to find. MULTIPLE times we almost headed back because we couldn’t find it, but eventually, we found it.
The haunted house was made by Country Boy Mine in Breck, which is normally a mine tour company. And again, to be completely honest, it wasn’t all that scary. However, the other activities that were there, were fantastic!
We lassoed cows, mined for gold, did an escape room, and did some ax throwing. Turns out, some of us are better at it than others (I’m not one of those).
After that, we pretty much called it a night!
The next morning, our goal was to head back towards Denver to catch our flight home. However, along the way stop at whatever tickles our fancy… which you already know as a hike.
We ended up stopping in Evergreen to hike Maxwell Falls, a 4.2-mile loop in the Arapaho National Forest. LUCKY for us, it was sunny and about 40 degrees warmer than in Breck.
If for some reason you can’t find me in Minnesota, I can bet you a pretty penny I might just be here.
Is a move to Colorado in my future? Maybe.
Am I looking to book another flight? Most definitely.
It wasn’t the world’s longest trip, but it sure was the perfect amount of time to enjoy a small piece of Colorado and all she had to offer.
Til next time!
Katelyn
